... is a practice. A practice of opening your house for a stranger. A practice of being a stranger in the domestic and intimate space of the other. Each edition the practice is focused on the specificity of the context where it happens.

For Santarcangelo Festival 2015 (IT), the practice was focused on the notion of Family. During 16 days I cooked and slept at different houses. Every night a different place, every night a different recipe, every night a different family. Being the guest and, at the same time, hosting the hosts in their own domestic space. Some people were single. Others divorced. But mostly there were families. Or, more precisely, a certain kind of family: The father, the mother and their children. Every night food was served and while eating the topic of Family, its formats, values, constraints, openings, norms, domesticity and possibilities of re-thinking a sense of belonging were digested over dinner. The conversations were recorded and edited into a fictional voicing of opinions, wonders, assumptions, projections and experiences around the topics at stake. Each family was invited to donate a set of 10 objects from their home. Between symbolic and simply functional, between emotionally and aesthetically valuable, between religiously cared throughout life and bought as souvenirs during each holiday trip, a set of 160 objects composed an installation accompanied by the recorded voices of those implicated in it.

For Possible Futures 2013 - Vooruit (Ghent/BE) the practice was focused on the sensorial relations between the hosts and their domestic space. For 22 days I was hosted by 22 different strangers. I knew nothing about them a part from their names and addresses. After dinner some accepted to go further and let me reposition themselves with the objects they choose to lay down with for one hour. A text was presented for all the hosts. What they listen is a collage of their own stories in relation to other narratives. What they listen is a fiction between themselves and their domestic space.

'Every - time you open the door I focus on emptying myself for you. And so we meet again. And we talk and we are in silence. In this silence there is something. The awkwardness of not knowing each other and having dinner in the dining room of your house. As if the stranger, myself or yourself, and the domesticity of the domestic space are in clash. In this moment, which we usually cannot hold for too long, something real seems to happen. As if the reality of a meeting, as the clumsiness of not knowing how to relate yet, takes place.'
